There are some fantastic conversations we have, helping people retire early or planning on leaving better legacies to family - essentially making their money work a bit harder. 

It’s a really fulfilling part of my role, being able to do that for our members.

I’ve had the freedom and the opportunities to go above and beyond my role. Things which you might not get in certain roles or certain organisations, but Skipton allows that.

We're in a privileged position where our team's great. 

The reason I really enjoy working for Skipton and have stayed so long is because, as a mutual, their values really match my own.

There's something about working for a place where the the morals and ethics really match yours, and that makes it a no brainer. Along with the brilliant people we have, there's this sense of doing something that matters and it's worthwhile.

What's important? A really good open mind and a willingness to jump in and collaborate to get things done.

Fundamentally we're relentlessly focused on delivering for members and for customers, so being really curious of mind is a culture that we operate in. 

Using Skipton's apprenticeship levy, I did a Strategic Leadership Master's, and also got a qualification with the Chartered Management Institution. That's been invaluable in getting me to where I am now, and developing my leadership skills. 

It’s part of the reason why I came to Skipton, as there was an opportunity for me to develop in that side of my career.

I like the fact that the Skipton always evolves. I've seen a lot of change, I've had a lot of roles, I've developed my career, and built some great relationships.

I really feel proud to work for a place that really makes a difference to members' lives. 

I've really valued building my career at Skipton where flexibility and development opportunities have enabled me to grow and progress over the years. This didn't stop after my maternity leaves either. 

In my current Finance Business Partner role, I provide insights that shape decisions and support our strategic priorities, making a tangible difference to how the business performs and evolves.

Skipton gave me the chance through an Apprenticeship scheme, which meant that I got to experience loads of different areas across the business. 

The best part about the whole lot was the opportunity that the colleagues across Skipton gave to me. And I saw myself in a company that meant I could really develop and progress.

Skipton has given me every opportunity to grow, learn and progress my career. Completing a Software Engineering apprenticeship alongside my role gave me the foundation to develop into the Senior Software Engineer I am today.

I've worked on some truly exciting engineering initiatives, and being awarded the Chair Star Award this year has been a real highlight. Skipton recognises your contributions, and I'm excited to see what comes next for TTR and the value we can deliver for our members.

I came to Skipton as an opportunity to come into the Commercial area and look after our partnerships. More than 10 years later, here I am now running operations in the Money business.

We've created an environment that enables and empowers people and that's very different to where I've seen it before.

We're close knit as a team. It's supportive and we know what we're all doing at the same time, so anyone can lend a hand if they need to. 

It's really good to know that the things that I'm doing are being valued and used for members.

I’ve only been with Skipton Building Society for a short time, but it’s been a fantastic start. I joined the Financial Planning team to develop my skills in giving financial advice while working towards my Diploma. 

With great support from my leader and colleagues, I’m learning every day and aiming to become a qualified adviser within the next couple of years.
