As a Financial Planning Consultant, you’ll play a key role in helping our customers plan for their future. You’ll build strong, lasting relationships, and deliver exceptional service from the very first interaction. Acting as their trusted initial point of contact, you’ll lead insightful fact-finding meetings to understand what matters most to each customer and help shape their financial future.

We’re looking for someone with experience supporting customers or advisers, who is either Diploma qualified or working towards completion. You'll have experience within financial services and be comfortable providing personalised guidance tailored to each customer's needs

You’ll benefit from a strong pipeline of quality referrals, driven by close collaboration with branch colleagues and our head office in Skipton, so you can focus on what you do best - supporting customers. With a clear focus on customer and business outcomes, you'll balance commercial performance, risk management and quality standards.

At Skipton, we're founded on fairness. We exist to do right by our members - and we believe that starts with doing right by our people. So whoever you are and whatever you bring, there's a place for you here and a genuine plan for where you go next.

What You’ll Do

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with branch teams and Financial Advisers to support new customer introductions

  • Lead discussions around key areas such as pensions, investments and inheritance tax

  • Introduce our proposition in a clear and engaging way

  • Prepare customers for their first meeting with a Financial Adviser, helping them feel informed and supported.

  • Gather and accurately record customer information on our customer relationship management (CRM) system to support the advice process

  • Provide advisers with a full picture of each customers circumstances and goals

  • Build rapport, understand customers goals and motivations, and help them make informed decisions about their finances

What You’ll Need

  • Experience supporting customers or advisers within financial services.

  • Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning/Advice completed or actively working towards completion.

  • Experience building relationships and understanding customer needs, either face-to-face or virtually.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain information in a clear and engaging way.

  • Able to maintain high levels of accuracy, quality and compliance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Comfortable learning new systems, processes and technology.

  • Motivated to build a long-term career in Financial Advice and progress towards a Financial Adviser role.

Were here to make life better for our members.
About Skipton.

Our story began in 1853 in Skipton, North Yorkshire. Today, you’ll find us across England and Scotland, from Aberdeen to Plymouth.

We help over a million members put down roots, save for what matters, and feel good about their money. As a mutual, they own us, so everything we do is for them. You'll feel that same fairness and purpose in how all 2,500 of our colleagues work together, too.

It all means that life at Skipton is more exciting than you imagine.

What it's like to work here
Life at Skipton

We talk and we listen to each other. And we make decisions as a team. That way, you get all the support you need to do work that works for everyone.

At Skipton we value work life balance and are proud to support hybrid and flexible working. This opportunity is for 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Initially this role will be remote, with the view to then spending up to 5 days a week within our branch region.

We also value what everyone brings to Skipton. And we create a fair place where you can be yourself. Our colleague networks play a big role in this. They connect people with similar life experiences and make our workplace warm, friendly, inclusive and welcoming.

Its not just our members who are important to us.
You are, too.

Lots of organisations talk about wellbeing, but they don’t always back it up. As a mutual, we put people first. And that includes the people who work here. So, when we say we care about your wellbeing, we mean it.

Wellbeing isn't just one thing. It’s about feeling good, having energy, and being able to be yourself and perform at your best. That’s why we offer help for your mental and physical health across five key areas.

What’s more, it’s help that you can actually use too - not just read about.

Sounds like you? Then apply now.

You don't need to tick every box - we look for people who care about our members and who want to grow at the same time. The rest can follow.

Sarah, Planning Co-ordinator

I’ve only been with Skipton Building Society for a short time, but it’s been a fantastic start. I joined the Financial Planning team to develop my skills in giving financial advice while working towards my Diploma.

With great support from my leader and colleagues, I’m learning every day and aiming to become a qualified adviser within the next couple of years.
