We answer to Margaret from Harrogate.
And Nadiya from Altrincham.
And Daniel from Croydon.
You’ll meet them everyday in our branches. Because our branch network is at the heart of our business. It’s where Margaret, Nadiya, Daniel and thousands more come to us with their financial questions, plans, and worries. And it’s where we help them move forward by providing advice for the moments that matter most.
With more than 80 branches across the UK, our teams are rooted in their local communities. Some are small and close-knit. Others are larger hubs. But wherever you’re based, if you work in one of our branches, you’ll be the face of Skipton.
Careers in our branches are structured although there’s room to move in all kinds of different directions, too.
Branch experience can open lots of doors - not just the ones our members walk through. Many of our colleagues progress vertically through our branch network. What’s more, we also support professional qualifications, such as CeMAP or RO exams to help you move into specialist advice. Others move into a variety of head office roles. Your path is yours to choose.
This is where many people start. You’ll handle transactions, of course. But you’ll also have deeper conversations. You’ll listen carefully, understand our members’ goals, give advice and recommend products and services.
You’ll spend your time understanding more complex member needs and building stronger relationships. And you’ll be on hand with useful advice and recommendations for our products and services.
If you want to specialise, this could be the role for you. It’s all about supporting our members and understanding their needs with detailed planning around their finances - and their futures.
In this important role, you’ll have deep, meaningful interactions with customers, giving advice and making recommendations for products and services. You’ll also have the opportunity to deputise for your Branch Manager, where you’ll help the rest of the team perform at their best.
You’ll be the person your local team looks to for leadership. Whether you’re driving performance, developing people, or delivering great outcomes for members, you’ll make sure your branch plays its part.
With more than one branch under your wing, you’ll spend your time in multiple locations. You’ll drive performance, help your teams boost their skills, make sure each branch is a great place to work, and help our customers find the products, services and advice they’re looking for.
You’ll set the standard for leadership for your Branch Managers with a focus on developing high performing teams who deliver great outcomes for members. It’s all about making sure they provide trusted advice and deliver a positive impact in their communities. Working within a regulated business, you’ll be detail focused, decisive and will balance multiple priorities.
If you’ve already got lots of relevant experience, we can give you the scope to build on it. Here, you’ll grow your own skills as you support development and performance throughout the region and work closely with your Regional Manager to embed and deliver invaluable advice to members.
Branch life is rewarding. It’s also real. You’ll be a true people person. This is about building trust through great listening skills, having an eye for detail and a passion for making sure members get the best outcomes.
Your empathy and resilience will mean you respond in the right way even when conversations are emotional or complex.
Curiosity is important, too. Our branch colleagues have the confidence to move beyond basic tasks and ask the right questions. It’s about discovering what someone actually needs. Not just what they think they came in for.
No two days are the same, especially in our smaller branches. You might need to step into more complex conversations if a colleague is busy. And you won’t always know who’ll walk through the door next.
But above all, you need a genuine belief in fairness. You’ll be the kind of person who treats others properly. Who’s always upfront. Who does the right thing, even when no one is watching.
If you’re someone who wants to build real relationships, be proud of the work you do, and grow your career in a team that backs each other, a branch role could be exactly where you belong.
